Rigoberto Herrera is the kind of producer who sees what coffee could be before anyone else does. At Las Margaritas, tradition and avant-garde experimentation coexist in every lot. This Sudan Rume is a perfect expression of that philosophy: a variety tracing its origins to the borderlands of South Sudan and Ethiopia, one of the oldest and most untouched genetic lineages in the coffee world. Its genetics remain largely untouched, and it is rarely found in its purest form. Few farmers are willing to take on its low yields and difficult cultivation. Rigoberto does, and he does it with the same bold intention that has defined Café Granja La Esperanza for generations.
